Meet Denise

Welcome, I’m Denise

Denise Hein, MA, LMFT

I'm a marriage and family therapist who helps couples reconnect and women rediscover themselves.

With maturity comes wisdom.

Marriage. Divorce. Parenting. Loss. Career changes. Moves. Success. Identity shifts. Love. Betrayals. Reconnection. Empty nest. Reverse empty nest. Aging parents. Menopause.

Been there, done that.

And, I've experienced the full spectrum of emotions that comes along with living a full life: sadness, stuckness, anxiousness, but most of all, healing.

As a therapist for over 20 years, I've also supported my clients through these crossroads and more. I've sat on both sides of the room and know what it means to feel stuck, lost, or simply ready for something more. There's no denying that this season of life can be both messy and beautiful, and I'd be honored to guide you through it.

Therapy that goes beyond the surface

MY APPROACH

There's so much more to therapy than "just talking." Here's a peek at what makes my style of practice different than what you may have experienced before:

The method meets
the moment

Rather than rely on one approach, I blend the best parts of a few therapy styles I've found most effective over the years. The result helps you experience deep emotional shifts in the moment, and a method to keep making progress in between.

Listening,
not labeling

Instead of asking "what's wrong with you," we seek to find out "here's why this makes sense." The emotions underneath the surface reactions tell the real story, and that shift changes everything.

Connection is
everything

Most of what brings people to therapy (the arguments, the anxiety, the feeling "off") all ties back to the same root: a need for connection that isn't being met. We follow the threads back to this root so the real progress (and real healing) can begin.

Credentials & Training

After 26 years in practice, I've learned that the most lasting change happens when research-backed methods meet real, in-the-moment emotional experiences.

How can I support you?

Therapy for couples

I work with couples who feel disconnected, struggle to communicate with each other, and may be wondering "how is this going to last?" If you're willing to go deeper than you have before, this is for you.

  • Rebuilding friendship and having fun together again

  • Learning communication skills and managing conflict with intention

  • Rebuilding emotional closeness and intimacy

  • Co-creating shared goals and a plan for the future, either together or apart

Reconnect to each other

Therapy for women

I work with women who are self-aware enough to know something needs to change, but haven't yet found the right space to figure out what. If you're navigating midlife, identity shifts, or the feeling of having lost yourself along the way, this is where you reconnect.

  • Finding calm and clarity in the midst of change

  • Rediscovering your joy, hobbies, and sense of purpose

  • Building a life and identity that feels true to you

  • Embracing your Second Act or next chapter with confidence

Rediscover yourself

Weave faith into your healing

Faith-based Therapy

For some of us, faith is central to how we understand ourselves and the world around us. For others, it's a complicated source of both comfort and conflict. Either way, there's space to explore your faith and unpack its part in your story here.

  • Integrating your spiritual values into how you live and connect with others

  • Navigating doubt or a changing relationship with your religion

  • Reconciling faith with your identity, relationships, or life choices

  • Processing grief, shame, confusion, or curiosity tied to religious experiences

The way forward starts here

The hardest part is reaching out. Everything after that, we do together.

BEGIN

Together we set a path designed for you, guided by where you want to go.

Am I the right therapist for you?

The single biggest factor in how successful therapy will be for you is not a certain method or the therapist's experience. It's the connection between you, and whether you feel safe, seen, and understood by them. I work best with people who are ready to do more than talk about what's happening. People who are willing to slow down, go underneath, and do the kind of honest, sometimes uncomfortable work that creates real change. If that's you, I'd love to connect. Let's start with a free consultation to see if we're a good fit.
